These Air Fryer Apple Cinnamon Rolls are a culmination of so many of my favourite things.  I mean, apple and cinnamon together is already a pretty unbeatable combination, but combine that with two ingredient dough and the air fryer and I’m hooked! No yeast or proofing is required for these apple cinnamon rolls.  All you need is some greek yoghurt and self-raising flour and you’ll have the easiest (and tastiest) dough you’ll ever try. Inside the rolls is a delicious apple pie filling made up of apple chunks, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.  These gooey rolls are perfectly soft and fluffy and make your house smell amazing! I love to make up a batch for morning tea on a slow weekend, but they’d be great for a special breakfast or brunch too.  I also suspect the kids wouldn’t protest if one found its way into their lunch box!

🥘 INGREDIENTS

I almost always have the ingredients on hand to make these apple cinnamon rolls which means they get made quite a lot!  Here’s what you’ll need (full measurements listed in the printable recipe card below)…

Greek YoghurtSelf-Raising Flour – If in America, substitute for all purpose / plain flour & baking powder.  American self-rising flour contains salt (for things like biscuits) and salty flour wouldn’t be good for cinnamon rolls!  You’ll need 2 teaspoons of baking powder for every cup of all purpose / plain flour you use.ButterAppleBrown SugarCinnamon

🍴 INSTRUCTIONS

Place Greek yoghurt in a mixing bowl and give it a stir. Add in 1 cup of flour and stir to combine. Gradually add in more flour until the dough starts to form into a ball. Tip the dough onto a well-floured surface and knead with your hands for a minute or two. If the dough is still too sticky, add some more flour and continue to knead. The dough is ready when it is able to hold it’s shape and is not sticking to your hands or the surface. Use a well-floured rolling pin to roll the dough into a rectangle shape, then brush with butter and cover with brown sugar and cinnamon.  Sprinkle apple pieces on top. Roll the dough up tight, then cut into 8 equal pieces.  Spread the pieces out into your air fryer basket or trays, keeping a bit of space between each one to allow some room for rising.  If you have a smaller air fryer you may need to cook in two batches.   Cook on 180C / 350F for 10-15 minutes or until the dough is golden and cooked through.  Move to a wire rack to cool completely.

🥣 STORAGE ADVICE

Once cooled completely, store in an airtight container at room temperature for a day.  You can also freeze for up to three months.

1. Flour

If in America, or if you don’t have self-raising flour on hand, please use a mix of all purpose flour / plain flour and baking powder instead. You’ll need 2 teaspoons of baking power for each cup of all purpose flour. So if your dough uses 1 & ½ cups of flour, use 3 teaspoons of baking powder etc.

2. Storing

Once the rolls have cooled completely, store in an airtight container or ziplock bag at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.   I like to zap them in the microwave before serving to warm them up again.  I LOVE warm apple cinnamon rolls.
